Log Raising - April 24, 2010
This year's log raising will be April 24, 2010 at Reeves' and Deanna's home at 465 J. Shoun Road. Not only will you be able to see a cabin built in 3 hours, but will see their buffalo and miniature donkeys as well! Come for a spring day at a beautiful mountain landscape. Bring your questions about log homes. Representatives from the Honest Abe Log Home manufacturing plant will be there to assist you in planning your dream home.

Many things happened in 2009!
Reeves and Brad Eastridge of Eastridge Construction built a cabin on wheels for the annual Christmas parade. Decked with Christmas decorations and Snyder grandchildren, we pulled the cabin down the road behind cloggers and in front of antique cars while the snow added a perfect touch to the scene!
A very special thank you goes to Sashco who provided the stain for the little cabin. We toured the Sashco manufacturing facility recently and were very impressed with the quality Sashco puts into their products. The family atmosphere and care they have for the customer were obviously a driving force behind the products. Honest Abe is very careful about the vendors it chooses and we certainly consider Sashco as one of the best!
The annual Mountain City Rotary Club Tour of Homes features two of our log homes. Joe and Linda Summers really decked the halls with a 14' live tree in the living room of their modified Algood. There wasn't a corner or stair without a decoration. Russell and Patti Smith showed how beautiful a log home can be decorated with contemporary style. Patti calls it her "Pier 1" look. Their Livingston featured two trees: the contemporary tree in the main living area and the traditional upstairs that had been decorated by their two boys.
The new Mountain City bypass is now open and has diverted all of that wonderful traffic going from Abingdon, VA to Boone, NC away from our model. Because of this, we sold the model and are currently looking for land in a better location. Our office is currently at our home. Our awesome customers have offered to show their homes any time we have prospects in the area. Actually, our customers have become friends and this is why we love doing what we do.

It is good to see spring again!!! Flowers are blooming and we're working on the yards getting ready for our next log raising. After so much snow, it's good to see green again!

Many folks are also asking about building "green" homes. Honest Abe has been green for many years. The plant even uses the sawdust it produces to heat the kilns.

When you wake up in the morning, you are in the home of your dreams, designed by you. Our goal at Woods Hill Log Homes is to make this a reality – your reality. Honest Abe Log Homes specialized in giving customers “what they’ve always wanted”. We are Reeves and Deanna Snyder, owners of Woods Hill Log Homes in Mountain City, Tennessee, and have been dealers for twenty years. Building relationships is key to our business.
Building Your New Home
Most of our customers have done a lot of research. Typically, it has taken two years to narrow down floor plans and the supplier. We recommend log home magazines to get ideas. Build a notebook of things you like as well as things you do not. This helps when we draw the floor plan.
There are several options when it comes to building the home.
1. Woods Hill Log Homes has a list of recommended builders. We are available for the interviewing process.
2. The customer has already chosen his own builder.
3. Honest Abe Log Home crew dries in the home and a recommended builder completes it.
For all of these options, the customer deals directly with the builder once the materials are delivered. Woods Hill Log Homes will visit the house site periodically.
Pricing
At the signing of the Purchase Agreement, a $1500 deposit is required to draw up the floor plans.
50% of the purchase price is required to put the home on the cutting list.
The balance is due upon delivery of the materials.
