Every customer has unique needs and styles. Reeves and Deanna assist each homeowner through the process of designing a log or timber frame home to meet those needs. Their goal is to ensure customers wake up every morning happy in their home.
Through the years, Reeves and Deanna have made many friends with their customers. Their customers in their log home subdivision, Buffalo Ridge, often get together with Reeves and Deanna for social events and holidays. These customers also love showing their homes to potential customers.
Woods Hill Log Homes
Reeves and Deanna Snyder of Mountain City, Tennessee are Independent Dealers for Honest Abe Log Homes. For 35 years their company, Woods Hill Log Homes, has served Carter, Unicoi, Washington and Johnson counties in Tennessee and Watauga, Ashe and Wilkes counties in North Carolina.
Our log and timber frame structures are manufactured in the U.S.A. and have been since 1979!
Relationship with Honest Abe
Honest Abe Log Homes began in 1979 and is still owned and operated by the family of its original founder, Doug Smith. Reeves and Doug would often talk about their common history, cutting lumber. Their stories of how logging was done in the “old days” included logging with mules.
Working with customers and with the people of Honest Abe is all about friendships. Many of the Honest Abe staff have been with the company since before Reeves became a dealer. You can read about how he became a dealer on our About page.
Reeves and Deanna take whatever time it takes to get the customers what they want, but also sticks with them throughout the entire process. Because of the time spent with the customers, they tend to keep in touch for years afterward.
What to Expect from Woods Hill Log Homes
Woods Hill Log Homes offers 35 years of expertise to guide you through the process of owning a log or timber frame home or commercial structure.
Woods Hill Log Homes offers the following:
– Meet with the customer to decide the style of home and interior to design a floor plan.
– Estimate the cost of the home to make sure it is within the customer budget.
– Assist the customer in the paperwork to order the floor plans.
– Visit the house site to plan the delivery of the materials.
– Assist in choosing a builder. Woods Hill Log Homes does not recommend builders, but will introduce builders to the customers. The customers choose the builder that is the best match for them.
– Assist the customers to make changes on the floor plans that were made by the Honest Abe drafting team.
– Be on the jobsite at delivery.
– Be available to answer builder and customer questions through the building process. If Woods Hill cannot answer a question, they will contact the appropriate person at Honest Abe that can answer the question.
Livingston Plan, Modified
A standard floor plan from Honest Abe Log Homes can be modified to incorporate elements desired by the homeowner. This Livingston is accented by the beauty of the surrounding terrain.
What We Offer
Honest Abe Log Homes offers custom designed, manufactured and energy-efficient log, timber frame, SIP (structural insulated panels) and hybrid homes. Plans are drafted by Honest Abe’s in-house design team and are customized to each homeowner’s needs and desires.
Each log or timber frame home is pre-cut, notched and numbered using modern, state-of-the-art manufacturing methods. Only kiln-dried Eastern White pine and Douglas Fir are used, ensuring durability and stability.
Log systems are available include:
- The popular 6×8 and 8×8 milled D-Logs with butt-and-pass corners.
- The D-Log profile, 6×12 and 8×12, with dovetail corners.
- An 8×8 milled round log features an interlocking corner system unique to Honest Abe.
- Another round system is the 10” log with saddle notched logs and Swedish-coped corners.
- The Genesis log system is a “square” system available in 6×12 or 8×12 logs with dovetailed corners. Options include exterior chinking or hand-hewing.
- The 6×10 Original Chinked has dovetailed corners and chinking inside
and out.

Homes by Woods Hill Log Homes

Aztec Plan
Honest Abe Log Homes has more than 100 plans available for customers. Any plan can be completely customized to suit the customers’ needs as was done with this Aztec Plan.
From Norway to Miami to Tennessee
Bjorn and Nancie Svensen built their log home in the Buffalo Ridge log home subdivision in Mountain City, Tennessee. Bjorn, originally from Norway, is a retired electrical engineer for Norwegian Cruise Lines. Nancie works for Norwegian Cruise Lines, lining up group cruises from their home.
The Svensens chose Mountain City to build their home because the scenery reminded Bjorn of his native Norway. From their home, they have views of the mountains in Tennessee, North Carolina and Virginia. Their home is a custom home in a style like what one would see in Norway including the light stain and flower boxes under the windows.
Custom Timber Frame
The timber frame home in these pictures is located on the Hawks Nest ski slope. It was designed by a bioengineer and his wife. Honest Abe made his floor plans from the very detailed drawing that this customer had already drawn. Now, Honest Abe Log Homes offers structural insulated panels (SIP) for versatile, beautiful and energy-efficient construction.
